UCD and Bohemians Premier Division games next Friday postponed due to under-21 call-ups

UCD’s Premier Division clash with Cork City and Bohemians’ trip to Dundalk have been postponed due to involvement in Stephen Kenny’s under-21 squad to face Luxembourg.

The ties had been due to take place on Friday, March 22nd but will now take place at a later date due to players being called up for the opening European Championship qualifier in Tallaght on Sunday.

St Patrick’s Athletic’s meeting with Derry City had already been called off due to unspecified call-ups, and more detail will be known when Kenny announces his first official squad this afternoon.

Three UCD players started Kenny’s unofficial first fixture as manager, a 1-0 win over an Irish amateur selection, in Whitehall last month: Neil Farrugia, Liam Scales and Conor Kearns.

City’s Conor McCarthy started that game, while Bohs trio Andy Lyons, Robbie McCourt and Daniel Mandroiu were also involved.

As it stands, the only Premier Division game on Friday will see Finn Harps host Shamrock Rovers, while Waterford travel to Sligo Rovers on Saturday.

However, the latter game may also be in doubt as Sligo’s Dante Leverock is set to captain Bermuda against the Dominican Republic, while Jack Keaney and John Mahon were called up to the last squad.

The Ireland under-21 squad to face Luxembourg will be announced by manager Stephen Kenny at 2pm this afternoon.
