St Patrick's Athletic and Derry City game postponed due to international call-ups

St Patrick’s Athletic’s Premier Division clash with Derry City, which was originally scheduled for Friday week, has been postponed due to international call-ups.

The game, which was one of four in the Premier Division due to take place on March 22nd, will now be played at a later date to be confirmed.

It hasn’t been revealed yet which players have been called up to which squads, but generally a team needs to be missing two players in order to request a postponement.

Derry City have seen a number of games cancelled in recent seasons due to players being called up to both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland underage squads.

Stephen Kenny’s under-21s kick off their European Championships qualifying effort at home to Luxembourg two days later, on Sunday the 24th in Tallaght Stadium.

Saints midfielder Jamie Lennon was part of the home-based squad that beat an Irish amateur selection in Whitehall last month, while no Derry players were called up.

Northern Ireland kick off their campaign in September and currently have no friendly games scheduled for that weekend.
