League Preview: Bray Wanderers -v- Athlone Town

BRAY WANDERERS

Bray will be hoping to build on Friday night’s 3-0 win at home to rivals Cabinteely when they welcome Athlone to the Carlisle Grounds on Monday night. (KO 7:45PM).

Goals from Derek Daly, Gary Shaw and Darragh Lynch helped Gary Cronin’s men to all three points against the league leaders.

The result puts the Seagulls within two points of Cabo at the First Division summit.

Bray are unbeaten at home so far this season and they will be expecting for that to continue against Athlone if they can repeat the performances that got them wins over Cabo and UCD in recent weeks.

At the time of writing Bray hadn’t released any team news.

ATHLONE TOWN

Athlone will be looking to bounce back from Friday night’s disappointing defeat at home to Galway United.

A first half red card for forward Lee Duffy and subsequent goals from Enda Curran and Vinny Faherty along with a Mikey Place brace meant that Athlone were left pointless for the seventh time this season.

The Friday previous Athlone did look like they would get their season back on track when they beat Wexford 5-3 at home in the FAI Cup.

Manager Adrian Carberry will need another performance like that if his side are to get anything from their trip to Wicklow on Monday.

Lee Duffy will miss the game through suspension after being sent-off against Galway while Darren Meenan has left the club after retiring from football.

Referee: Ben Connolly.

MATCH STATS

Athlone have conceded 26 times so far this season. That’s more than any other First Division team.
