Cork City to host Preston North End in July mid-season friendly

Cork City will face Preston North End in a mid-season friendly at Turner’s Cross as the Lancashire club round off their preparations for the coming Championship campaign.

The Rebel Army will welcome one of English football’s oldest and most storied sides to Turner’s Cross on Monday, July 8th at 7pm.

A host of former Leesiders will be on view for the visitors, who have Irish internationals Alan Browne and Sean Maguire on their books, as well as current City loanee Kevin O’Connor.

The club hopes to retain O’Connor for the rest of the season, so he may line out in City colours, while another Cork native in Adam O’Reilly could appear for Preston.

18-year-old O’Reilly, a former Ringmahon Rangers schoolboy, made his first-team debut as a substitute against Aston Villa after signing his first pro contract.

Turner's Cross also played host to Preston last summer, when Alex Neill's side beat Cobh Ramblers 5-0 in a mid-season friendly.
