Northern Ireland winger Jordan Jones signs pre-contract with Glasgow Rangers

Northern Ireland international winger Jordan Jones has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers to join the Ibrox club when his contract expires with Kilmarnock this summer.

The 24-year-old joins the Gers along with Finnish midfielder Glen Kamara, who will arrive from Dundee in the summer following the expiration of his deal.

"Rangers wishes to place on record our thanks to both Dundee and Kilmarnock for their cooperation in securing both agreements," read a club statement.

Both players have signed four-year contracts with the revived Gers, who are neck-and-neck with Glasgow rivals Celtic at the top of the table on 42 points, one clear of Kilmarnock.

It’s the first business of what’s expected to be a busy window for Steven Gerrard, who is looking to bring in Jermaine Defoe from Bournemouth and Steven Davis from Southampton on loan.

"Unbelievably proud day for me and my family," England-born Jones posted on Twitter.

"I've waited for this moment for a long time and today is a dream come true!"

Jones arrived in Scotland from Middlesbrough in 2016, having failed to break into the Smoggies’ first team following loan spells with Hartlepool United and Cambridge United.
