Glentoran sign former Scotland under-21 John Herron

Glentoran have announced the signing of former Scotland under-21 John Herron pending international clearance.

Formerly of Celtic, Blackpool, Dunfermline and Raith Rovers, Herron comes to Northern Ireland with plenty of highly-regarded opinions upon himself.

With glowing praise from his former Celtic boss Neil Lennon, Herron has also received plenty of backing from Jim Duffy, once of Dundee in the SPL.

Speaking after the confirmation of the deal, Glentoran boss Ronnie McFall spoke on his delight having completed a deal for a very well thought of midfielder following the club’s recent cup win over Larne.

"I'm very pleased to have got John signed up.” McFall said.

“He has a very good pedigree having come right through the Academy and youth ranks at Celtic to make first team appearances for a good Celtic team under Neil Lennon. He had also played for Scotland at every level from U15 to U21.

“Clearly he was very highly rated in Scotland and at just 24 he's a great age to bring in with so many years' experience at full time level.” He concluded.
