Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty returns to Ibrox for a second spell with Rangers

Northern Ireland international striker Kyle Lafferty has joined Rangers from Hearts on a two-year deal.

The Enniskillen native returns for a second spell at Ibrox having spent four seasons with the Gers between 2008 and 2012.

Those years were the most productive of Lafferty's career as the 30-year-old scored 38 goals in 138 appearances, winning three league titles and a Scottish Cup in that time.

He obtained constructive dismissal from the Glasgow club as a result of their financial difficulties and spent time in Switzerland, Italy and England before joining Hearts.

The Fermanagh man began his senior career with Burnley in England and made 83 appearances in three seasons in the Championship, scoring ten times, earning him a move to Ibrox.

He scored the goal aganst Hibernian that secured Rangers their second of three successive titles in 2010 before moving on in the summer of 2012.

Lafferty signed for Swiss side Sion, where he spent a season before joining Italian Serie B side Palermo, and his 11 goals in 34 appearances helped the Sicily side back to the top tier as champions.

A three-year spell with Norwich City saw him used sparingly as the Canaries reached the Premier League, and he had loan spells with Caykur Rizespor in Turkey and Birmingham City.

The striker returned north of the border in 2017 and managed 12 goals in 35 appearances as the Jam Tarts finished sixth.

Lafferty has appeared 67 times for his country since debuting in 2006 and has scored 20 goals as well as appearing at Euro 2016 in France, where he helped the North to the last 16.
