Defender Darren Dennehy joins brother Billy at Limerick

Limerick have confirmed the signing of defender Darren Dennehy following his departure from St Patrick's Athletic at the end of last season.

The Kerryman will join up with his brother Billy for the third successive club, having previously played with the winger at Cork City and the Saints.

29-year-old Dennehy is the 22nd player to put pen to paper with the Blues ahead of the 2018 season and will wear the squad number 17.

The centre-half came through the youth system in England with Everton but left without making a senior appearance in 2008.

He spent two years at Cardiff City, where racked up loan appearances with Hereford United and Gillingham, before signing for League Two Barnet in 2010.

After two years with the Bees, Dennehy returned to Ireland and joined up with Cork City ahead of the 2013 season.

He spent three seasons on Leeside before making the move to Inchicore ahead of the 2016 Premier Division season, winning a League Cup medal that year.

His second year at Richmond Park was more frustrating for the Tralee native, who found himself on the sidelines for the majority of the season with a persistent foot injury.
