Former PFAI Player of the Year Killian Brennan signs new Saints deal

St Patrick's Athletic have confirmed that midfielder Killian Brennan has signed a new contract to keep him at the club for 2018.

The Drogheda native rejoined the Saints from his hometown club during the summer and was an integral part of the club's successful effort to avoid relegation from the Premier Division.

Brennan arrived along with fellow midfielder Owen Garvan, who has also penned a new deal, in July and would go on to make 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.

During his first spell with the club, between 2013 and 2015, Brennan made 108 appearances and scored 20 goals.

He was part of the squad that won the Premier Division title in 2013, winning the PFAI Player of the Year award the same year, and the FAI Cup in 2014.

The 31-year-old joins his brother Ryan in the Pats squad for 2018 after the attacking midfielder made the move from Bray Wanderers last month.

Manager Liam Buckley told the club's official website: “Re-signing Killian and Owen is great news for us as they both have such great ability on the ball and will add great quality to our midfield.

“They're two players the fans in particular will be delighted to see back in Richmond Park come the start of the league in February.”

Ireland under-19 international Brennan played youth football with Home Farm and Peterborough United before returning to join Dublin City in 2003.

He spent three years with Derry City before signing for Bohemians, where he enjoyed his most successful years, winning two league titles and an FAI Cup medal.

In 2012, he moved to cross-city rivals Shamrock Rovers but at the end of the year he moved to Pats. He spent another year with Rovers in 2016 before joining Drogheda the next year.
