Republic of Ireland under-17s secured passage to the Elite Round of European Championship qualifying with a 2-0 victory over Romania in Zelnica today.

Colin Bell's side remain on course to reach a second consecutive European Under-17 Championships as they made it two wins from two in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Goals in either half from Maiden City's Tyler Toland and Shelbourne's Isibeal Atkinson guaranteed Ireland a top two finish in Group 4, which ensures a spot in the Elite Round draw.

Ireland had beaten the hosts in their opening fixture on Sunday thanks to a late header from Chelsea midfielder Megan Mackey.

Bosnia defeated Greece 1-0 in the other game on Wednesday, but Ireland were already assured of a top-two finish owing to Greece's draw with Romania on the opening day.
