Former Galway player Ryan Manning signs new Queens Park Rangers deal

Former Galway United player Ryan Manning has signed a contract extension with English Championship club QPR.

The midfielder has signed a one-year contract extension to his existing deal which will keep him at Loftus Road until the summer of 2020.

“I am absolutely delighted to have signed an extension,” Manning told qpr.co.uk.

“It’s great reassurance for me. Hopefully, in the next three years, we can build something, start finishing at the right end of the table, and then get back to the Premier League.

“It’s been seven months since I made my debut, and it’s a crazy story really when you think about it.

“To come from Ireland and playing in the League of Ireland to playing regularly in the Championship like I was last season, it’s something I am definitely proud of.”

The 21-year-old began his career playing for Mervue United in the First Division where he made his debut in 2013 at the age of 16.

The following season he signed for the newly-formed Galway, where he was an integral part of that promotion winning season playing 25 times and scoring five goals, despite completing his Leaving Certificate mid-season.

In January of 2015, the Galway man signed for QPR and finally made his debut for The Rs last New Year’s Eve in their 2-1 win over Wolverhamtpon Wanderers at Molineux.

Manning made 18 appearances for QPR last season, scoring once.
