Wexford sign midfielder Mikey Byrne and striker Dean Kelly

Wexford have made their first additions of the summer transfer window as midfielder Mikey Byrne and striker Dean Kelly have signed until the end of the season.

25-year-old Byrne joins from Crettyard United, who have won the Carlow League for the past four years.

19-year-old Kelly, who is not to be confused with the former Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians marksman, is also from Carlow and joins from New Oak.

Kelly scored 41 goals for the club during the 2016/17 season as the unfancied club reached the semi-finals of the Leinster Junior Cup for the first ime.

Both Byrne and Kelly were members of the Carlow Oscar Traynor squads last season.

The pair's signing comes at the same time it was announced midfielder Craig Wall will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

They will both be available for selection for Friday's First Division clash away to Cabinteely.
