Alan Dunne leaves Leyton Orient by mutual agreement

Irish footballer Alan Dunne has left League Two Leyton Orient by mutual consent.

The Dublin-born defender made the short trip across London at the beginning of the 2015-16 season following his release from Millwall, with whom he'd spent 26 years.

The versatile full-back, who was raised in London, joined the Lions as an eight-year-old and made his debut at the age of 19 in a Division One fixture against Sheffield United.

Millwall finished fourth that season, losing a play-off semi-final to Birmingham City, and Dunne was to spend the remainder of his time at the club between England's second and third tiers.

The 34-year-old was awarded the club's player of the year gong in 2009-10, and he also holds the ignominous of being sent off ten times, more than any other player in the club's history.

A statement on Orient's website read: “The club can confirm that defender Alan Dunne has left by mutual consent.

“The experienced defender arrived in E10 last summer following his release from Millwall, and went on to make a total of 18 appearances during his time with the O’s.

“We would like thank Alan for his efforts during his time with the club and wish him success in his future endeavours.”
