Richard Brush joins Ballinamallard United from Finn Harps

Northern Irish Football League side Ballinamallard United have announced the signing of goalkeeper Richard Brush from Finn Harps.

The former Sligo Rovers goalkeeper follows a well-worn path for players from his former clubs, as the Fermanagh side is managed by ex-Sligo boss Gavin Dykes.

Harps full back Ryan McConnell has spent the past few months on loan at the Mallards, while former Sligo men Ross Taheny, Gary Armstrong and Liam Flately are also on the books.

32-year-old Brush makes the move across Ulster having spent 2016 duelling with Ciaran Gallagher for the Harps number one shirt, making 19 appearances in the league.

Prior to that, the Birmingham native had three separate stints at Sligo, each side of two spells at Shamrock Rovers, helping the Bit o' Red to the league title in 2012 and the FAI Cup in 2010.

He was a member of the Hoops' league-winning side in 2011 and made two appearances in that season's Europa League, including the final game in Tallaght against Tottenham Hotspur.

Brush began his career with Coventry City but failed to make a breakthrough, spending time with non-league sides Tamworth, Stafford Rangers and Nuneaton Borough before joining Sligo in 2006.
