Cabo sign three more from 2016 squad

Cabinteely have today increased their 2017 squad to 16 players with the re-signing of goalkeeper Jack Menton and defensive duo Karl Byrne and Lee Mitchell.

Menton, a former Bohemians and UCD under-19 goalkeeper joined Cabinteely mid-way through the 2016 season, told the Cabinteely club website that he is looking forward to progressing further with Cabinteely next season.

“I had a great second half of the season here last year with Eddie and I’m looking forward to progressing again next year,” he said.

Played some of my best and most enjoyable football here and I’m looking forward to that again for the coming season.”

Right-back Karl Byrne joins Pat Devlin’s side for what will be his third season at the club, since signing mid-way through the 2015 season, when he went on to make twelve appearances, scoring once.

Byrne had previously lined out for Longford Town’s under-19 side as well as Crumlin’s Leinster Senior League side. Byrne told the club website of Cabinteely’s aim to challenge at the top of the league in 2017.

He said: “I’m very happy to be back with Cabinteely, can’t wait to get back to preseason and to be working with Pat and Eddie. Hopefully we can kick on this year and challenge at the top end of the league.”

Lee Mitchell signed for Cabinteely ahead of the 2016 First Division season following a spell with Shamrock Rovers' under-19 side.

Mitchell told the club website of his hope of staying injury free for the upcoming season as Cabinteely look to step up a level.

“I’m delighted to sign back for the club as it is only getting bigger and better,” he said.

“Personally I plan on getting fully fit and staying injury free and helping the team take it on to another level from last year.”
