Castells join Derry on short term deal

Derry City have announced the signing of 31 year-old, Spanish defender Cristian Castells on a short-term deal.

Castells has been brought in by Kenny Shiels to provide cover to the likes of Ryan McBride and Aaron Barry at the heart of the Candystripes rear-guard.

Shortly after the completion of the deal, City boss Kenny Shiels revealed his delight to derrycityfc.net.

“Cristian is a big lad, he’s over 6 foot. He’s technically good, he reads the game well and he’s a fighter, a bit like Ryan McBride, so we’re glad to have him in and he’s come at the right time.

“Between injuries and a few guys on 4 yellow cards and most of them defenders we’re glad to get the cover and he’s a fantastic asset to have.”
