League Report: Bohemians 2 - 0 Galway Unted

Two Anto Murphy goals were enough for Bohemians to take all three points against Galway United on Frday night in the Airtricity Premier Division. Bohemians dominated the game, the two Anto Murphy goals were not the only time a Bohs player found himself in the box unmarked on the end of a set piece. Creevy forced a great save from Gleeson when he headed into the top corner of the Galway goal with 20 minutes to go.

It was a combination of Bohs playing very high up the field and some good set pieces that beat Tommy Dunne's side. Throughout the game Bohs pressed the Galway players as they tried to play the ball out of defence. Keith Long was happy to get the three points but was keen to play down their current league position after only two games.

After six minutes Anto Murphy put the Gypsies ahead when he got his head on the end of a free taken by Lorcan Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald took the free on the right hand side of the area with his left foot, the in-swinging cross was met by Murphy who headed it high into the net leaving Conor Gleeson with no chance.

Murphy's second of the night came with just over seven minutes left on the clock. Marc Griffin took the corner from the left side of Gleeson's goal, the Galway defenders were easily out muscled by Murphy who met the ball just inside the penalty spot and shot low and hard.

Bohs had many other chances making Gleeson by far the busier goalkeeper on the night. In the dying minutes Galway tried to salvage something from the game when Gary Shanahan tried to lob Dean Delany from the edge of his area. The Bohemians keeper was equal to the effort and pushed it out of play with his fingertips.

Bohemians were comfortable winners and the margin could easily have been higher if Creevy, Buckley, Kavanagh and Molloy took their chances in the last twenty minutes, not to mention the numerous other chances Bohs produced earlier in the game.

Bohemians should be confident going into the game next Saturday against Bray Wanderers who have lost their opening two games. Galway United will look to get a result against Drogheda at Eamonn Deacy Park next Friday to set them on the right track.
