Perth - We have to be happy with the point

Not for the first time this season, Dundalk came back from two goals down to salvage a result at Oriel Park. This time the opponents were Limerick and after the match, first-team coach Vinny Perth spoke to Extratime.ie about the performance and he began by praising the performance and feels that they have to be happy with the draw after being two goals down with 20 minutes left.

"I thought first half we were very good. We controlled the pace of the game and were very unfortunate to go in 1-0 down. One mistake cost us but we should have been in front.

"The second half we were excellent but we aren't making things easy by giving away these goals. Credit to the boys though, they dug in and got the result. We could have won it too, Tiarnan Mulvenna had another chance and Kurtis Byrne almost scored at the beginning of the half but considering the circumstances, we're happy to take a point."

The Lilywhites have had a good start to the season and are racking up points as they go. Perth acknowledges that but believes when the side stop making the mistakes they are, they will pick up even more points.

"We have had a good run. It was a great win against Pat's (St.Patrick's Athletic) on Tuesday and for some reason we can't get the win here.

"We're scoring goals but conceding too many. When we eradicate the goals and the silly errors then we'll get more wins on the board. We are picking up points though, so we have to be pleased with that and we are."

Another week passes and still no home win for the Louth club however, the former Longford Town midfielder isn't at all bothered by that and feels that the away wins have cancelled that out.

"We have won games so that's not so bad. We have 12 points now and we are coming together well. People forget that this is a totally new team and we are going to suffer some setbacks.

"It is about learning from those but I feel this group will. Home form is important but if we win away, like we have, it takes some pressure off here. We do have to win at home soon though and I'm sure we will."
