After a long, cold winter that was cruelly lacking in live League of Ireland football, redemption is nigh – Spring is after settling in, and the new Airtricity League season is back with a bang.

Friday night sees the return of Irish domestic football, and if you are unable to make it to your team’s ground for whatever reason, ExtraTime.ie will have all the action right at your fingertips.

We will be supplying comprehensive coverage of each of game week one’s ties. From comprehensive match previews, to detailed minute-by-minute live updates, to finally the all-important match report. We will also have reaction from some of the players and managers involved.

From the First Division to the top flight, ExtraTime.ie is the place to go for unrivalled coverage of the long-awaited return of our beloved league.

In Derry, we have the clash of two of last year’s three major trophy winners, as the FAI Cup holders Derry City take on current league champions Sligo Rovers – who will be no doubt looking to start their open their attempt at retaining the title with style.

In Dublin, last year’s beaten FAI Cup finalists St. Patrick’s Athletic do battle with the other major trophy winner of last season, EA Sports Cup victors Drogheda United – it should be fascinating following the Drogs this season, as they look to build on last year’s impressive second placed finish.

Staying in the capital, there is the only all-Dublin clash of the opening weekend of the Airtricity League season, as Bohemians host UCD at Dalymount Park – both outfits looking to improve after mid-table finishes in 2012.

By the seaside, Bray Wanderers will hope to get 2013 off to a successful start with victory over Shelbourne, although the Tolka natives will also be looking to hit the ground running after achieving consolidation last year following gaining promotion in 2011.

In Louth, Dundalk’s bid to improve on last year’s disappointing campaign starts with a very difficult task – hosting Shamrock Rovers at Oriel Park. Rovers will no doubt be a wounded animal after enduring a similarly disappointing 2012, and will be looking to get their title charge off to the best of starts.

In the First Division, Waterford United take on visitors Finn Harps whilst in Galway, Salthill Devon welcome Longford Town.
