Curran could extend Limerick stay beyond June

In February, Limerick bolstered their attacking options with the loan signing of Craig Curran from Rochdale. Despite being only twenty-three, Liverpudlian Curran has had spells with a number of clubs prior to arrival at Thomond Park.

Curran's career at Tranmere Rovers began in style. His first touch on his debut resulted in a goal and two games later he became the youngest player in Rovers history to score a hat-trick, a record previously held by Dixie Dean. A move to Carlisle followed in 2010 and a loan spell at Morecambe ensued before signing for Rochdale in 2012.

A loan deal to Chester saw the young striker score seven goals in eleven games for the Seals. He looks back on his days at the Deva Stadium with fondness. “It was fun. It was really good. I missed my last season with Carlisle due to illness, and with Chester, I knew I needed games and I got them. It was a re-building process and now this opportunity has come along as well.”

Although the young striker's loan deal only lasts until June, Curran is open to the idea of extending his stay at Limerick. “I'd definitely think about that. My aim is to play games and score goals – simple as that. All going well, if the gaffer is happy, the Chairman is happy and I'm happy, then yeah, absolutely.”

While the majority of the Limerick squad have been reluctant to give any particular aims for the season, Curran was up front about his hopes for the coming year. “I want to win as many games as we can. We should be looking to get into Europe. Our aim going into a season is to win a league – same as every other season. People might laugh and not think it's possible but I'm sure we've the capability to do so. I believe in us, so hopefully everyone else around us can.”
