Limerick add two more to squad

Limerick FC have added a pair of new faces to their Premier Division squad ahead of the forthcoming season as Robbie Williams and Craig Curran agreed terms with the Shannonsiders.

Williams has played with a host of clubs across the Irish Sea, most notably with Barnsley and Huddersfield Town. Having made over two hundred appearances in England, Williams offers a wealth of experience to Stuart Taylor's side ahead of their first top flight campaign in over eighteen years. The twenty-eight year old Yorkshire native had his contract with Plymouth Argyle cancelled by mutual consent in January of this year.

Speaking about his new acquisition, Taylor seemed upbeat. “We are delighted to get a player of Robbie’s talent and experience on board. That experience will be of great benefit to us in the team as well as helping the younger players in the squad as well as those I’ll look to develop from our U19 squad. It’s an important signing for Limerick FC and a sign of the growing reputation of the club that we can bring in players who are also attracting interest from clubs in the UK. It’s a testament to the work the club is doing on and off the pitch.”

The Blues have also agreed terms with Rochdale for a loan deal which sees striker Craig Curran relocate to Limerick, pending international clearance. Curran signed for the Lancashire outfit in 2012 before spending time on loan at Chester FC where he established an impressive goal-scoring record. The loan deal is set to run until June.
