Limerick FC have confirmed former Birmingham City reserve team coach Malky Thomson as their Assistant Manager.

The experienced number is two is well traveled, having held positions with numerous clubs across Scotland and England and even had a stint in Dubai.

Thomson began his playing career at Aberdeen under none other than Sir Alex Ferguson.

Having been assistant manager at Inverness for two years as well as acting as a number two at Dundee United, this role is one that the Scot is rather familiar with. He also enjoyed spells at Birmingham City, Glasgow Rangers and worked with Fabio Cannavaro at Al-Ahli in the Middle East.

Speaking about his move to Limerick, Thomson seemed excited about the season ahead. “I am delighted to join Limerick FC as assistant manager. I have been very impressed by the club and the young squad we have been working with over the past few days. I've always been all about getting on the training field and trying to help players with new techniques. I am delighted to be working with Stuart and hope to help him develop the players and the club into something all the people of the Midwest can be proud of and hope they come and support Limerick FC playing good attractive football in Thomond Park this season.”
