League One

 

Former Longford Town forward Don Cowan’s Stevenage Borough overcame Jay O’Shea’s MK Dons in League One on Tuesday night. It was ex Galway and Bray winger O’Shea who opened the scoring after two minutes but Stevenage came back and ran out 4-2 winners. Cowan came on for the final eight minutes while O’Shea played the full game.

FA Cup

 

Ex Galway and Derry ‘keeper David Forde is facing an FA Cup replay after his Millwall side drew 1-1 at home to Southampton. Forde played 90 minutes in the Cup 4th round tie.

 

Former St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Stephen Quinn is out of the FA Cup. Qiunn played 72 minutes of his sides 4-0 home defeat against Birmingham City.

 



Two former LOI players came up against each other as Norwich knocked West Brom out of the Cup winning 2-1 at The Hawthorns. Former Cork City striker Shane Long came on as a sub for the final 11 minutes for the home side while ex Shels midfielder Wes Hoolahan played 65 minutes for the Canaries before being replaced.

 

Championship

 

Noel Hunt, the former Shamrock Rovers and Waterford striker, played 90 minutes for Reading as they beat Bristol City 1-0 at home to move into the playoff places.

 

League One

 

Ex Monaghan United midfielder Jonathan Douglas played 90 minutes as his Brentford side beat Wycombe Wanderers 5-2.

 

Former Cork City man John O’Flynn played for 56 minutes in Exeter’s 1-0 defeat to table toppers Charlton Athletic.

 

Paddy Madden (ex Bohs) was a half time substitute for Carlisle United against Hartlepool. Carlisle were two goals behind at half time and conceded another two in the second half to lose 4-0.

 

Former Cork City pair Leon McSweeney and Dave Mooney were in action for Leyton Orient against Colchester. McSweeney played 90 minutes and Mooney (also formerly of Shamrock Rovers and Longford) played 56 minutes as their side lost 1-0.

 

Another former Rebel Brian Barry-Murphy played 90 minutes in Rochdale’s 3-0 victory over Bury. The win moves them off the bottom of the table.

 

Ex Derry City defender Mark McChrystal played 90 minutes for Tranmere as they drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town.

 

League Two

 

Padraig Amond formerly of Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers set up the opening goal in his side’s 4-3 win at home to Gillingham. He played 84 minutes of the game. Amond tweeted afterwards @padraigamond21 “What a win today great spirit to hold on. The 1st half was unreal performance. Fans were brilliant. #AccysGoingToWembley

 

Alan Bennett (ex Cork City) set up Cheltenham’s equaliser as they beat Macclesfield 3-1 to maintain their promotion push. This win puts them top of League Two,

 

Scottish Premier League

 

Richie Foran (ex Shels) played 90 minutes for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their 1-1 draw with St Mirren.

 

Former Sligo Rovers striker Eoin Doyle played 74 minutes as Hibs were beaten 4-0 by Rangers at Ibrox.

 

Scottish Division Two

 

Marc McCullagh (ex Shels and Galway) played 90 minutes as Stirling Albion lost 4-1 to Airdrie United

James McClean continued his fine form for Sunderland as he set up Frazier Campbell to equalise in the Mackems 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.
