Kevin Doyle (ex St. Pats and Cork City) started Wolves’ comeback in their 2-2 draw at home to Swansea on Saturday with a goal in the 84th minute his side equalised in the 86th minute but couldn’t find a winner. Doyle and compatriot Stephen Ward (ex Bohs) both played 90 minutes for Mick McCarthy’s team.

 

Shane Long (ex Cork City) is a doubt for Ireland’s Euro 2012 play-off against Estonia next month after he came off in the 19th minute with a serious knee injury. His club said on their website www.wba.co.uk that he “could be out for up to six weeks”

 

Former Derry City and UCD forward Conor Sammon came on for the last 8 minutes of Wigan’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

 

Wes Hoolahan formerly of Shelbourne captained Norwich to a 1-1 draw away to Liverpool playing 90 minutes at Anfield.

 



Ex Sligo Rovers defender come midfielder Seamus Coleman came on as a sub in the 74th minutes as Everton beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage.

 

Europa League 

 

Birmingham’s Keith Fahey formerly of St Pats and Drogheda played 90 minutes in his side’s 2-1 Europa League win away against Club Brugge of Belgium.

 



Championship

 

Midweek games

 

Ex Shamrock Rovers and Waterford striker Noel Hunt came on for the final eleven minutes of Reading’s 2-2 draw with Derby

 

David Forde ex Derry City and Galway ‘keeper played the whole game for Millwall as they drew 1-1 with Brighton.

 

Midfielder Gary Deegan who played for a number of League of Ireland teams including Bohs and Longford, played the first half for Coventry City against Leeds United, the game ended 1-1.

 

Former Cork City defender Damien Delaney came on for the last half hour of Ipswich’s 1-0 victory over Portsmouth.

 

Weekend games

 

David Forde again played 90 and kept  a clean sheet as Millwall beat Leicester City 3-0.

 

Ipswich’s Damien Delaney played 48 minutes of his side’s 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

 

Roy O’Donavan (ex Cork City) came on for the final 22 minutes for Coventry as they lost 2-1 to Burnley.

 

Keith Fahey set up Birmingham City’s second goal in their 2-0 win against Bristol City on Sunday.

 

League One

 

Jonathan Douglas (ex Monaghan United) played 90 minutes and Niall McGinn ( ex Derry City played 80 minutes for Brentford as they drew 1-1 with Notts County. He tweeted “great battling point by the lads today”@dougieno4

 

Ex Cork City winger Leon McSweeney played 90 minutes and Dave Mooney formerly of Shamrock Rovers, Longford and Cork) played 75 minutes for Leyton Orient as they drew 1-1 with Sheffield United who has ex St. Pats midfielder Stephen Quinn in their side.

 

Former Galway United ‘keeper Gregg Fleming played 90 minutes for Chesterfield in their 3-2 defeat against Hartlepool.

 

League Two

 

Paidraig Amond (ex Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers) and Kevin Long( ex Cork City) both played the full match for Accrington Stanley as they lost 1-0 to Cheltenham Town on Friday night. Another former Cork City defender Alan Bennett played 90 minutes for Cheltenham in this game.

 

Scottish Premier League

 

Former Derry City and Shamrock Rovers winger Paddy McCourt came on and played the last 18 minutes as Celtic beat Aberdeen at Celtic Park.

 

Ex Shels striker Richie Foran played 90 minutes for Inverness Caledonian Thistle against Dunfermline. Foran set up his side’s goal in the 33rd minute but their opponents equalised late in the game.

 

Scottish Division One

 

Thomas Stewart (ex Shamrock Rovers and Derry City) came on as a sub for Partick Thistle after 65 minutes in their 2-2 draw with Falkirk.

 

Scottish Division Two

 

Former Shels and Galway player Marc McCullagh played the full game for Stirling Albion in their 1-0 defeat against East Fife.
