Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named his 25 man squad for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifying games against Slovakia and Russia.

Wigan's James McCarthy has not been included in the squad but has instead been made available for the Under-21's. Trapattoni also decided to not included Stoke's Johnathon Walters and Aston Villa's Ciaran Clark – both of whom were unavailable for the Carling Cup of nations back in May.

The Boys in Green take on Slovakia in the Aviva Stadium on September 2nd and then four days later they take on Dick Advocaat's Russia in the Luzhniki Stadium, in what looks set to be a crucial game in Ireland's bid to make it to Poland and the Ukraine next summer.
