Nathan Wood has signed on loan to Cork City from Newport County.

Wood, 26, joins the Turner’s Cross side until the end of June from the League Two outfit.

The attacking midfielder came through at Newport before spells with Undy Athletic and Penybont in the Welsh League.

He rejoined Newport in the summer of 2023 and has made 18 appearances this season, scoring once.

He joins a City side who must start again after being relegated back to the First Division after just one season.

He spoke to the club website on the signing.

“This has all happened very quickly, but I am looking forward to getting over to Cork and meeting up with my new teammate," he said.

"I had a good chat with the manager about his plans for the season, and I am really excited by what he said. I know it’s a big club with a really good fan base, so I am looking forward to being part of it.”

Clancy welcomed the news on the signing: “I am pleased to be welcoming Nathan on board. He is an exciting, attacking player who will add to our options in forward areas. He will be a great addition to the squad, and I cannot wait to get working with him.”
