Sean Murray has signed on loan with Cork City from Glentoran.

Murray, 30, joins the Turner’s Cross side until the end of July from the Irish Premiership side.

The midfielder came through at Watford before spells with Swindon, Colchester, Vejle in Denmark, and Dundalk. He has been with Glentoran since 2021.

And he joins a City side who must start again after being relegated back to the First Division after just one season.

He spoke to the club website after signing saying: “I know from playing at Turner’s Cross in the past what it’s like to play against Cork City; this is a big club. For Turner’s Cross now to be my home ground is brilliant and I’m really looking forward to it.

Tim has explained his ambitions for the coming season to me; there is a good squad being built here and I hope that me coming in can add some experience to the side”.

In other news, academy graduate Cian Murphy, has signed a new contract. The 24-year-old made his first team debut in 2018 and has made more than 90 appearances.

City boss Tim Clancy said: “I am pleased to get Cian signed up for the 2024 season. He has been around the club for a number of years, he has played in this division before and he knows what’s needed for the coming season.

“He is a very committed player and I have no doubt that he will work well with some of the other attacking players we have brought in.”
