Coffey re-signs for relegated Cork City

Cork City have announced Barry Coffey as the latest player to commit to the club ahead of the 2024 League of Ireland season.

The midfielder spoke with the club website saying: “Since the day I signed with the club, they have made me feel welcome by the fans and they have always had my back.

“I know how much people are hurting after last season, so now it is my time to repay that support by putting in the right kind of performances next season.”

Coffey began his career with Glasgow Celtic’s academy before loan spells with Cliftonville.

He first signed for Cork on loan in July 2021 before signing for the club permanently the following summer.

He has scored 18 goals in 38 matches for the club so far.

“I am delighted to get Barry back for next season,” manager Tim Clancy said.

He was a key part of the team that got promoted in 2022. He was top scorer for the club that season, so we are looking for more of the same in 2024.

I want players here who want to play for the club and, from my conversations with Barry, he has shown me his desire to get the club back to where we belong.”
