Benson re-signs for Dundalk

Dundalk have announced Robbie Benson as the latest player to commit to the club ahead of the 2024 League of Ireland season.

“Everyone knows what Robbie can do and he showed that in the back end of last season in particular,” manager Stephen O’ Donnell said, speaking to the club’s website.

“Its our job, and its his job now, to ensure that he is available every Friday night. That’s the main target we have for Robbie because there is no doubting his ability.

“After a difficult 18 months, he’s very hungry to get going again so we just need to make sure he has a free run at the season.”

Benson started his career after coming through the academy at Athlone Town before a spell with UCD.

He first signed for Dundalk back in 2015 and spent five years with the Louth club. After a two-year spell with St. Pat’s, he signed back with Dundalk in 2021.

He has scored 25 goals in nearly 150 appearances for the club so far.
