Rob Harvey to take charge of Euro 2020 qualifier between Sweden and Malta in Solna

League of Ireland referee Rob Harvey will take charge of the Euro 2020 Group F qualifier between Sweden and Malta on Friday evening at the Friends Arena in Solna.

The Dubliner has been rewarded with his first qualifying assignment following an impressive performance in the UEFA Nations League tie between Luxembourg and Moldova last September.

Harvey will be assisted by assistant referees Wayne McDonnell and Mark Gavin, while Paul McLaughlin is the fourth official on the night.

The 30-year-old also took charge of last June’s friendly between Romania and Finland, while he took charge of Europa League qualifiers between Levski Sofia and Vaduz, and Mariupol and Djurdgardens.

He was assistant to Neil Doyle in the 2018 FAI Cup final between Dundalk and Cork City and also officiated four games at the UEFA under-17 European Championships in England last year.

Harvey was appointed the panel of FIFA international referees in 2016.

Sweden currently sit second in Group F behind Spain, with four points from two games, while Malta are fourth with three points from their two outings.
