Young keeper Ross Treacy signs new deal with Dundalk

Dundalk have announced that back-up goalkeeper Ross Treacy has signed a new deal ahead of the 2019 season.

The 20-year-old made the bench a handful of times last season as a deputy for first-choice Gary Rogers and Gabriel Sava without getting on the pitch.

Former Swansea City stopper Treacy joined the Lilywhites at the beginning of the season after a short spell with hometown club Parkvilla.

The former St Kevin's Boy schoolboy made his first senior appearance in a 1-0 friendly win over Glentoran in July.

Following Sava’s departure for Bray Wanderers, the Meath native may find opportunities more forthcoming, however Dundalk are expected to bring in an experienced keeper in the window.

“I’m glad to be back and have got deal done,” Treacy told the club’s official website.

“I’m looking forward to the next season and picking up from where we left off after a successful year.

“Personally, I want get my head down and work hard and hopefully get some opportunities in the team and show what I can do.

“I want to continue to push Gary [Rogers] and him to push me and bring out the best in each other.”
