Wexford retain three more for 2018 as Bolger, Kelly and Byrne sign on

Wexford have brought their 2018 squad to five players with the announcement that Danny Bolger, Dean Kelly and Mikey Byrne have all re-signed for Damien Locke’s side.

The trio join new club captain Ross Kenny and last season’s top scorer, Thomas Croke, in signing up for the 2018 season at Ferrycarrig Park.

All three players first joined midway through the 2017 season with goalkeeper Bolger signing following Graham Doyle’s retirement.

Bolger signed from Carlow side St. Patrick’s Boys and made six starts for Wexford in the latter stages of the 2017 season, keeping one clean sheet.

Midfielder Kelly made 11 appearances for Wexford last season, scoring twice – against Waterford and Athlone - after joining from another Carlow side, New Oak.

While at New Oak, Kelly had scored 41 goals during the 2016/17 season as they reached their first ever Leinster Junior Cup semi-final.

Mikey Byrne also joined Wexford from a Carlow side, Crettyard United, who he had captained to the Carlow Cup in 2017.

26-year old Byrne made 12 appearances for Wexford after signing in June and scored once, in a 2-1 victory away to Shelbourne in July.
