Corcoran signs two-year contract extension with Bohemians

Dinny Corcoran has become the latest player to commit his services to Bohemians for another season.

Corcoran, who is now in his third spell at the Phibsboro club, signed a two-year contract extension to remain at Dalymount Park until the end of 2019.

The 28-year-old striker finished the season as the league's second highest goalscorer with an impressive haul of 16 goals in 26 Premier League appearances.

The news will be warmly welcomed by Gypsies fans as the popular former St. Patrick’s Athletic and Sligo Rovers front man has been in prolific form as Bohs finished just outside the European places.

Manager Keith Long sees Corcoran as a central cog at Dalymount as he looks to bolster his squad for the coming season.

Many shrewd observers expected Long’s side to struggle in what was expected to be an ultra competitive top-tier. The opposite proved to be the case as Corcoran discovered a rich vein of scoring form, which saw him finish just behind the prolific former Cork City talisman Sean Maguire, at the top of the scoring charts.

Keith Long said: "Dinny is a key re-signing for us. He's scored the bulk of our goals this season and his finishing has been superb.

"I can't praise him enough and we're delighted that he has recommitted."

The former Athlone Town manager has been busy in the early days of the off-season, and the re-signing of Corcoran is a real signal of intent from the club

Others who have put pen to paper include : Oscar Brennan, Dan Byrne, Dinny Corcoran, Rob Cornwall, Paddy Kavanagh, Derek Pender, Fuad Sule, Shane Supple and Warren O'Hora.

This now means a total of nine players have put pen to paper for the Gypsies as they seek to bring a measure of stability to the club after a few seasons of real turmoil.
