Watch: Cork topple Dundalk to continue winning start

Cork City made it six wins from six in the league this season as they brushed aside champions Dundalk on a sunny Saturday afternoon at a packed Turner's Cross.

Almost 7,000 people flooded into the Cross to see a first-half brace from Karl Sheppard see of the challenge of the Lilywhites in spite of David McMillan's second half consolation.

Ciaran Kilduff was sent off late in the second half for a lunge on City midfielder Conor McCormack as Stephen Kenny's side slumped to their second loss of the campaign.

There was a nervy moment for Dundalk's recently-returned goalkeeper Gary Rogers as he saw his clearance charged down by Sean Maguire but he managed to block the striker's shot from a tight angle.

He was to have no such luck midway through the half as City broke with pace and Maguire squared for Sheppard to finish from close-range, leaving Rogers with no chance.

One was to become two eight minutes from time as a sublime through-ball from Maguire caused indecision in Dundalk left-back Dane Massey, and Sheppard rounded Rogers for a simple finish.

Dundalk saw midfielder Robbie Benson and his replacement Conor Clifford taken off through injury, but they pulled one back when Kilduff teed up sub McMillan for a tidy finish from the edge of the area.

It wasn't to be for the Lilywhites, however, as Kilduff got his marching orders in the final stage and City held out comfortably for another impressive victory.
