Peamount United awarded 3-0 win after Shels field ineligible player

Peamount United have been awarded a 3-0 win following last weekend's Continental Tyres Women's National League fixture against Shelbourne.

The match, played at Greenogue on Saturday evening, finished 2-2 at the end of the 90 minutes with goals from Kate Mooney and Niamh Prior cancelling out strikes from the hosts' Heather Payne and Amber Barrett.

It has since been ruled that Shelbourne fielded an ineligible player during the match and, as a result, the Peamount have retrospectively been awarded a 3-0 walkover result.

The amended result means the Peas now sit top of the Women's National League with a 100% record of six points from two games.

The reigning champions slip back from fourth place to fifth behind Cork City, who have one point from their one game, on goal difference.
