Derry re-sign centre back pairing

With his first action as new boss on Foyleside, Kenny Shiels has delighted many fans with the re-signing of captain Ryan McBride as well as fellow defender Aaron Barry.

The new manager, when appointed last week, was greeted with a roster of players out of contract however it appears he has begun to work through that list, negotiating contracts with his first move being to get Barry and McBride’s signature for the 2016 season.

The two centre backs made over 30 appearances each last season with Peter Hutton and Paul Hegarty both favouring the partnership at the heart of the defence. Derry fans will be glad to see the partnership secured for next season and particularly glad to see captain Ryan McBride stay at the Brandywell with the Derry-native having been contacted by other clubs in the intervening period.
