Cup tie called off due to blown transformer

Tonight’s FAI Ford Cup Third Round Replay between Shelbourne and St Patrick’s Athletic at Tolka Park was called off due to a floodlight failure.

A blown transformer in the generator knocked out the lights on four of the eight pylons and while there was sufficient light to commence the game it would not have been possible to play it to a finish.

The game has been re-fixed for next Monday, September 1, at Tolka Park with an 8pm kick-off. Tickets purchased for this evening’s game will be valid for Monday’s re-fixture. 

In the event of the scores being level after 90 minutes of play there is for provision for extra-time and penalties to decide who will advance to a Quarter-Final tie at home to Bohemians.
