Doolin makes late changes to Ireland U19 squad

Paul Doolin has had to make a couple of very late changes to his squad ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s U-19 UEFA Championship qualifying tournament this week.

Kealon Dillon and Steven Smith of Hull City and Leicester City respectively, have been called up to the squad in place of the departing Kenneth McEvoy (Tottenham Hotspur) and Ryan O’Reilly (Stoke City). Both players picked up injuries playing for their club sides.

Thankfully, both Dillion and Smith were able to meet up with the squad just in time to fly out on Sunday.

The Republic of Ireland are in Group 5 of the qualifying tournament in Luxembourg. Doolin’s team will face Germany, FYR Macedonia and the host nation, Luxembourg.

The top two nations in the group will qualify for the Elite Qualifying Round. The tournament itself will take place in Lithuania next summer.
