Limerick FC frontman Rory Gaffney will miss the remainder of the season due to a broken metatarsal obtained in training on Monday night.

With just four games to go in the season, Limerick sit top of the pile in the second tier, but this injury will certainly add a level of suspense to the run-in. Gaffney, who is Limerick’s top goalscorer this year with ten goals to his name, will miss all four games including the vital clash with Longford Town in two weeks time.

Limerick’s next fixture is away to SD Galway on Friday.
