Bohs' Brennan on trial at Coventry

Bohemians’ winger Killian Brennan played 90 minutes for Championship side Coventry City in a 2-1 win on Wednesday night, intensifying speculation he could be leaving the Dublin club. Brennan had been a trialist at Coventry before last night’s game.

The Drogheda born midfielder has been in impressive form this season and has been ever present in Pat Fenlon’s side missing only one league game so far this year through suspension.

However suspicions were raised about the player’s future in the league when he was left out of the Airtricity XI side taking part in the Dublin super Cup this weekend, after having originally been included in Damien Richardson’s provisional squad.

Bohemians’ manager Pat Fenlon today declined to comment on whether or not Brennan could be signing for Coventry.

The cash strapped club’s current financial situation has been well publicised, and although Bohemians may not receive any transfer fee for Brennan, moving the winger off would save Bohemians a huge amount on the wage bill. It is believed Brennan is one of the club’s highest earners.

Coventry have a strong Irish connection with five Irish players in their senior squad, including former Bohs’ midfielder Gary Deegan.

It is not the first time the name Brennan has been linked with a move away from the League of Ireland. Last month the winger’s brother Ryan was also linked with a move to an English club. Brennan has two other brothers currently plying their trade in the Airtricity Leagues with Gavin on the books at Drogheda United and Sean in the First Division with Monaghan.
