Pat Fenlon's men were denied a third successive league title last season after losing out to arch-rivals Shamrock Rovers, largely due to their own inconsistency. Bohs did add a Setanta Sports Cup to their trophy cabinet, but last season was largely seen as a failure, with a disastrous European campaign a particular lowlight.

During pre-season The Gypsies poor financial state had been well documented, and doubts surrounded the future of the club. It now appears the ship has been steadied somewhat with manager Pat Fenlon keeping the majority of his backroom team and adding nine players to the squad. It looks like a very unpredictable season for last year's runners-up. A mid-table finish and less talk about their finances would been seen as a major success.

In a recent interview Fenlon admitted that during the pre-season he questioned his own future. However, the 41-year-old now believes that assurances have been put in place and that his side are ready for the new season.

“I think we have a nice balance in the squad. We've had some good young players knocking around the club for the past couple of seasons so they may get a chance to play now. We've also brought in a few experienced players to help them along.”

Extratime Prediction: 5th.
