Bohemians scramble to raise funds

Cash-strapped Bohemians have urged all club members and supporters to make donations to the club in order to ensure the immediate survival of the Phibsborough outfit.

The Gypsies, 2008 and 2009 Premier Division Champions, need just over €300,000 in order to get through the licensing process to compete in the League of Ireland next season.

A meeting of members last Wednesday were told of the level of financial problems and the necessity for donations to be made. The club have asked for donations of €250 from all full members and €100 from senior and student members. “Donations, loans and other means” are being asked for as the club scramble to raise the money.

The club had previously agreed a deal with Liam Carroll’s Danninger group, that was later aborted, and has cost Bohs as the multi million euro deal was all-but guaranteed but for a late snag. The €300,000 is needed to cover a tax bill from the Revenue and pay off remaining monies owed to players, all necessary in order for a Premier Division licence to be granted to the club for next season.

The club have also called on fans to come to a meeting on Tuesday (16th November, 7.30pm) in St Peter's Hall, Phibsborough, beside Dalymount Park, for ideas on how to generate money.

They have also organised a 'Save our Bohs' night in Dalymount Park for Saturday night. They are urging all fans, including non-Bohs fans to get along and support them as they look to escape this financial mess, which has brought yet another League of Ireland club into uncertainty.
