Bohemians left-back Conor Powell bid a fond farewell to Dalymount Park on Friday night, as Bohs were pipped to the league title by rivals Shamrock Rovers.

Powell, who had spent five years in Phibsboro after signing from youth side Belvedere, played his final game in the red and black stripes, and was clearly emotional at the final whistle.

The 23-year-old found losing the league by just three goals a bitter pill to swallow and has put The Gypsies shortcomings this season down to their inconsistently.

“It's absolutely devastating. I can't get my head around it, losing it on goal difference is such a horrible feeling.

“I think our problem this season has been consistency. We've been up and down a lot of the time and we haven't had a consistent run, he told Extratime.

The defender spoke highly of the fans who held him in such high regard for five years, but the Portmarnock lad - who has been lined with moves to England in the past - insists his future remains uncertain.

“It's emotional after being here for five years. I've had some great memories and I'd like to thank everyone involved with Bohs.

“I don't know what's around the corner, I'm just going to have to wait and see. I've haven't spoke to anyone. I've just being trying to concentrate on winning the league but obviously I have a desire to go and play in England, but who knows what is going to happen in the future,” he explained
