Former UCD defender John Ryan joins Reading after successful trial

John Ryan has completed a move to English League One side Reading.
The 19-year-old was most recently on the books of Serie A side Sassuolo and it was there where he played for the club’s under-19 side.
The left-back has also been on the books of Shamrock Rovers.
But it was at UCD where he made his name, impressing under Students boss Andy Myler during the 2022 League of Ireland Premier Division campaign.
And the Ireland under-19 international arrives in England for the first time and will be hoping to make an impression under and former Irish international Noel Hunt.
Ryan will play for the club’s under-21 side with a view to forcing his way into the Royals first-team.
