Conan Byrne may have stolen the headlines – and Shane Supple's blushes to boot – with his stunning goal from within his own half against Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

What may get forgotten in the shake-up is the fact that, until then, the goal that had most of the league purring was in fact Patrick McEleney's incredible solo effort against Pats two weeks earlier.

A completely different sort of goal, but an incredible advertisement for the level of skill and artistic mastery on show in the League of Ireland.

Indeed, March 31st may go down as the night of goal of the month contenders, as no fewer than three top-class strikes made RTE's Soccer Republic's final eight strikes.

Although, quite how they looked at the five-goal thriller between Shamrock Rovers and Finn Harps at Tallaght Stadium and still left out Simon Madden's sumptuous last-minute winner is beyond us.

Take a look at all ten goals below, and vote in our completely unofficial poll as to your choice for the goal of the month!
