Paul O'Conor remains in Blue

Limerick have announced that midfielder Paul O’Conor has committed his future to the club for 2016. O’Conor joins Shane Tracy, Freddy Hall and Robbie Williams who all re-signed last week, in Martin Russell’s side.

The ex-Sligo Rovers man told the club website, “The way the last couple of months of the season went, between players, fans and the club, the whole community came together. The way the last couple of months of the season went, between players, fans and the club, the whole community came together.”

With structures now in place and Limerick settled into Markets Field, the Dubliner was quick to recognise the positive place the Club is in.

“There is massive potential here. You have to look at it long-term. That’s why players are signing back – it’s a club with huge potential. If we can get the results right on the pitch over next couple of years it can really go far.”

O’Conor was the first Limerick goal-scorer in the renovated Markets Field and will face former clubs Drogheda United and UCD in the First Division.

“It’s a case of being patient and hopefully we can get out of the First Division in the first year and go from there. Everybody saw the potential in the playoff with the crowd we got in the Markets Field and the amount of fans we were getting at our games, home and away.”

O’Conor scored four times in 32 league games, having scored late equalisers against Dundalk and Sligo Rovers. He also scored on the final night in the Showgrounds as Limerick climbed off the bottom of the table before losing in a promotion/relegation play-off to Finn Harps.
