League Report: Sligo Rovers 2 - 3 Limerick

In an action packed first half at the Showgrounds it was Limerick who took the lead after five minutes of this encounter when an Ian Turner corner was gathered thirty yards out from the Rovers goal. The ball found Limerick captain Shane Duggan who unleashed a scorcher of a shot which beat Richard Brush.

Ten minutes later Ian Turner was involved again in the Limerick attack and his shot forced a fantastic save from Richard Brush. Paul O Connor missed the rebound.

A minute later and a swift Rovers break saw Dinny Corcoran fouled in the box and his penalty was easily saved by Limerick goalkeeper Freddy Hall.

Limerick were two nil up after twenty seven minutes when ex Sligo Rovers player Paul O Connor followed up a Shane Tracy shot and slotted the ball past Richard Brush after his initial effort was saved by the keeper.

This was the wake up call Rovers needed and Jennision Myrie-Williams, Dinny Corcoran and Morten Neilsen all had chances to score a goal for Rovers. Rovers got their reward on fourty six minutes when Sanser Puri turned in a Keith Ward cross bearing Freddy Hall into the bottom corner.

Rovers started the better of the two teams and Limerick had their keeper Freddy Hall to thank after he made superb saves from Sander Puri and Anthony Elding. Limerick made Rovers pay for their missed chances after fifty eight minutes when Vinny Faherty met a corner and put Limerick three one up.

As the game drew to a close Ruairi Keating scored his first and Rovers second when he met an excellent ball from Rafaele Cretaro ball. A munute later Keating again had an oppertunity to score but his shot at the back post went wide after he met a Myrie-Williams cross.
