UEFA Women's Champions League Preview

The UEFA Women's Champions League Final takes place this Thursday, May 14th in Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark, Berlin. The contenders for this year's trophy are 1. FFC Frankfurt and Paris Saint Germaine.

1. FFC Frankfurt

Frankfurt one of the powerhouses in both the German Bundesliga and European women's football will be going into Thursday's Final chasing their fourth title after a two year absence from the competition. Frankfurt have previously won the trophy on three previous occasions, back in 2002, 2006 and 2008.

Frankfurt head into the game after winning their Semi Final game against Brøndby IF of Denmark 13 - 0 on aggregate. With a high calibre of strike force at their disposal within their team, it will be hard for PSG to stop the German team from securing their fourth title when they face star players of the women's game such as young German star Dzsenifer Marozsán and Spanish captain Verónica Boquete.

Paris Saint Germaine

Paris Saint Germaine are one of the top contenders in the French women's league Division 1 Féminine. In their history of the UEFA Women's Champions League, PSG have previously not made it past the Round of 16 stage, and this year's Final will be their first appearance in the UEFA Women's Champions League Final.

However, the French side have fought through a tougher draw than their Final counterparts. During their campaign they eliminated French rivals and two time UEFA Women's Champions League winners Olympique Lyonnais from the Round of 16 stage by a score line of 2 -1 on aggregate. At the Semi Final stage PSG also had a tough challenge of facing last season's UEFA Women's Champions League winners VFL Wolfsburg of Germany, and defeated them by a 3 - 2 aggregate score line. 

Although they do not have as much success and experience behind them as 1. FFC Frankfurt. They do have a strong squad which includes captain and French international Sabrina Delannoy and Swedish International forward Kosovare Asllani, who have already knocked out some of the competitions favourites.
