Gannon can't wait to get started with Dundalk

Latest Dundalk signing Sean Gannon admitted that he was very impressed this year with his new club - despite battling aganst them for the league title.

Gannon’s St Patrick’s Athletic fought with the Louth outfit all the way to the final weeks of the campaign and although it was the 22-year-old and his former teammates who ended the campaign victorious, he revealed he thought it looked a happy camp to be a part of from afar.

“I was watching Dundalk all of last season to be honest, watching their results and watching how they were getting on and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves and playing great football,” said the ex-Shamrock Rovers defender.

“They got some great results and pushed all the way to try and win the league title and with the squad they had last year they did really well doing that because it was a very young team with a lot of new signings and it was a great year for them.”

Looking in from the outside, he immediately noticed the unity that existed within the current group of Dundalk players and he is looking forward to playing his part in pushing them on to new heights.

“I think that last season showed everyone the team spirit that they have here and the togetherness among the group and Stephen has obviously put his stamp on the team and it is a good formula to get this club going places,” smiled the versatile full-back.

“I really can’t wait to get going now and mixing in with all the lads and get training with them all and then push on and try and go one step further next year.”
