Mark is one of many League of Ireland players to have come through the ranks at Belvedere and was signed by UCD in 2003 on a deferred scholarship. He mainly appeared in the students U21 side but did make four league appearances, scoring one league goal, before moving to Drogheda United in July 2004.

Again, he played for Drogheda's U21 side, gradually working his way towards the first team and going on loan to Bohemians in 2006 and Shelbourne, where he spent all of 2007. Thirty league appearances yielded 12 goals at Tolka Park and Mark earned a move to Galway United in 2008.

Mark's spell at Terryland Park lasted only six months, scoring once in 16 league appearances. In July 2008 he signed for Shamrock Rovers but 14 league outings failed to produce a goal and in 2009 he was on his way to St Patrick's Athletic. 9 league appearances later, and having scored twice for his new club, Mark suffered a broken leg against Dundalk and although he regained his fitness in the latter part of the season he was not re-signed for 2010. Instead, in March, he signed for Dermot Keely at Shelbourne. Mark bagged four league goals in 20 appearances in 2010 but left Shelbourne at the end of the season and emigrated to Australia.

By 2013 Mark had returned from Oz and in February he played on trial with Shelbourne during their programme of pre-season friendlies. He signed for Shelbourne for the 2013 season but left them at the end of the season after the club were relegated to the First Division.

The son of Mick Leech (a legend at Shamrock Rovers and who also played for Drogheda), Mark played on the Irish U21 team that beat Sweden in Drogheda in February 2006.
